3 years since the October 7 massacre — a tragedy that changed the world

Haaretz wrote Netanyahu knew of the 7 October attack beforehand.
The intelligence service of Egypt pre-warned him several times.

Hamas was culpably underestimated by Netanyahu and his administration. Saying they knew of it in advance is a bit of a stretch.

One day of tragedy in Israel vs. 1096 days of suffering in Gaza, and of course people focus on the country "promised 3000 years ago." It's almost as if Israel isn't being watched under the UN for starvation crimes

"scrap that 1 before the 74500.

  • My bad: the death toll of the Gaza Genocide is 73,400.
174,500 is the number of injured, they only lost an arm, a leg, or an eye, my mistake.
Point is that the 74,500 death of the Gaza Genocide outnumber the 1195 death of the Hamas attack 62 to 1.
You should watch the documentary NAZA by the Israeli movie makers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor.
In it 24 Israeli soldiers testify about the atrocities they were forced to commit in Gaza.

"why did netanyahu ignore that ?"

  • There are indications that security at the Gaza border was diminished instead of reinforced.
Minister Ben-Gvir was making a provocative stroll in East-Jerusalem, for which much security from Gaza was withdrawn.
The plausible explanation is that Netanyahu wanted to attack Gaza and needed a reason to do so.
It is up to the Israeli justice to find out.
Before the attack Ukrainian president Zelenski, a Jew himself, asked Israel for munition from their stockpiles.
His request was denied with as reason: we will need it ourselves.

Let's not foster a silly conspiracy theory.

Knowing that there might be an attack somewhere, sometime, is not remotely the same as knowing where and when and in what force.

The notion that Israel would, for geopolitical reasons, deliberately allow the rape, maiming, torture, killing and capturing of its innocents is ridiculous.

So let's all be careful not to imply otherwise.

And as for disproportionate casualties -- when you start a war, the enemy doesn't stop fighting as soon as they've killed the same number they've lost. That's not how real life works. They fight until the LEADERSHIP that attacked them surrenders or is destroyed.

For just one of countless examples, SEE World War II.

I hate that anybody has to die, and I hate none of the people involved. To the contrary. The average Israeli and the average Gazan is probably a decent person.

But there's an easy solution to such casualties -- don't cross into another's land and torture and murder innocents and then expect the response to be a call for giving up land.

And a peaceful solution is possible when the threat of such horrid behavior is gone forever.

"conspiracy theory"

"there's an easy solution to such casualties -- don't cross into another's land and torture and murder innocents"

  • The rationale for the Hamas attack was to take hostages so as to trade them for Palestinians tortured and raped in Israeli prisons.
Some are children, imprisoned for throwing stones.
The spiral of violence can only end with a peaceful Two State Solution, as proposed by Ehud Olmert.
