The 61 didn't have to occur if the 1 did not. Your position ignores reality in order to cling to a preferred world view.
On October 7 a cease fire was in effect. And if it had not been broken, NO deaths would have occurred. Israel wasn't the one who broke the cease fire.
When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the United States didn't retaliate only until the exact same number of the attackers had been killed and then stop. OBVIOUSLY.
When Germany started World War II by attacking Poland, they started ... A WAR. And in war the object is to defeat the enemy's government, and that is NOT accomplished by head-counting.
You will never change your mind, I'm sure. But it saddens me to see so many naive young people swallow such an unrealistic (if fashionable) point of view. October 7 was BESTIAL. It was far worse than Pearl Harbor. The Japanese didn't deliberately torture women and children in Hawaii.
And the Jews have learned the hard way when they begin to be killed in barbaric fashion: "never again." They've already lost MILLIONS when they respond placidly. So their decision to STOP such barbarism should surprise nobody.
I hate to see anybody killed, and have nothing at all against Palestinian civilians. To the contrary, I hope that some day they'll get to live in a state that doesn't want to make war and spends on food not weapons.
War is terrible. But have those who masterminded the attack on Israel surrendered and disbanded and thrown down their arms yet? Or is that something some would prefer to just ignore.
Chanting from "the river to the sea" merely shows the real thoughts of some. Yet some even in the West naively try to make it the fashion, without really contemplating what is intended. It shows how broken the West has become. That chant was going on long before October 7.
The United States and the West more generally should never elect ANY politician who tries to play both sides and doubletalk this issue. Because it's not just Israel that some hate.
