Candidates Format

@eekarf 2 months is completely fine by me. I do not want to do a bad job here - if this is the amount of time that's needed to get the best (statistically best?!) zh WC, I'm all for it!

Hmm, the order issue is interesting. Of course, that could be fixed by an alternating schedule, but what's the huge deal about having known the scores of the others?

Oh, and:

@chickencrossroad Nope, as stated on the site (https://sites.google.com/site/crazyhouseworldchampionship/rules), the total amount of points will matter and not # of match wins. Of course, I'm also open to have this changed, but I think it's better to reward dominance rather than just scraping by.

Edit: Oh, I actually did not mention this on the site...Whatever, as I said, I'm still open to discussion concerning this format.

Edit2: @eekarf Nope, for now, it's not scored by # of matches won. As I said, I'm open to change this.

Yes I think we should extend it. Like eekarf said at least 2 months.

It's also better that way because it will keep up the popularity of crazyhouse for longer.

Definitely prefer # of matches won as the qualifier.

Points scored can be used for tiebreaks.

Can a match be a tie?

Can a match be a tie?

@eekarf Yes, one match can be tied and there will be no tiebreaks. Tiebreaks will only take place if #1 and #2 are tied, or if #2 and #3 are tied.

Sounds good to me. Order of matches will matter then...

Hey fischy, I'm avaliable to play some weekdays afternoon here, so about 6PM GMT until 10 PM GMT, I also agree with CH (number of matches should be main point, and yes, i also think we could extend the duration of the tournament to 2 months if neededed, that's okay for me!

Might I suggest a website like http://doodle.com/ to coordinate this?

I'm very excited to watch these matches. I would encourage everybody, if they can, to record their matches (and commentate with LiChess arrows or audio if possible!)

Being one of the streamers among others like @atrophied and @crosky, I feel these quality matches could be better covered with commentary for interested viewers if games were stretched out over 2 months.

We're still at the start of 2017 and the crazyhouse community seems to be enjoying the event, so where's the pressure to conclude this quickly? I understand some may have other events or holidays in March, but we could extend til they return from their obligations to accommodate their schedules too.

We've just taken about 4-6 weeks to get through 2-3 matches and it's been working well. Suddenly 7 matches in 2 weeks seems inconsistent.

Anyway, just saying we're on a good thing here and there's no need to rush a good thing that lasts.

Sounds like preference will be matches won first, then potential tiebreak on points.

A couple further thoughts on format for discussion:

Instead of stopping at 6 wins, should all games have the full 10 games played out to balance the opportunity to score points in the event of an eventual tiebreak?

In the event of 5-5, is the match declared a tie or do we play on with margin of 2 required til one player wins?

If going for the margin of 2 option, could scores such as 7-5, 8-6, etc, simply be considered equivalent to a 6-4 result to balance each match to 10 points in total in the event of a tiebreak?

Thoughts from the community and players?
