LetZZzZ CoOKk SomE BEanZZZZZZZ

This is fucking ridiculous.
Like, do mods really exist here? At this point, I'm wondering if lichess admins spin a roulette wheel every month or so to decide who gets banned in off topic. A few posts are randomly deleted, regardless of whether or not they break rules. Maybe they think it gives off topic the appearance of being moderated? That seems unlikely, given that most of the people who have been here longer than a few months are all in agreement that moderation is getting even worse, but I guess if nobody checks on this section, no reason to check mod performance reviews. We all know the report function isn't working at this point.
I mean, for fuck's sake, in this thread about how bad the forums are (made by a user who has been here for quite some time, and is almost always positive), we have a known ban-evader flooding with shitposts.

I was debating even making this forum and decided to do so when two people were spamming a very good thread. Didn't like the thread damaged and even more didn't like that op being treated badly.

(@)Anonymous_IIII: Humans who tell chill people to, 'Chill' are even more annoying than those who keep spamming bullshit like, 'Things will get better.' If you think that complaining about someone's inappropriate behavior is, 'being not chill,' then this is for you: https://lichess.org/page/kid-mode. If/when you become a strong and mature person, turning off Kid Mode might be okay.
(@)chaosydude: YAPSIATAHSIB. (Yet another post spamming in a thread about how spam is bad.)
While the moderators are bad, the users are not much better; they are a bunch of illogical fanboys with shitty arguments who are suffering from toxic positivity:
-
'Lichess is free [SIC], so stop complaining about it.' ~ What if I gave a starving child moldy bread for free? A homeless person free clothes that are too broken to be considered wearable? People a great chess website that has awful, 'moderators' in it?
-
'The moderators are doing their best.' ~ Well, clearly not. Also, we are not in kindergarten; doing your best is not good enough. If you are not competent enough for a duty, then you should be replaced.
-
'Stop being negative.' ~ How would serial killers be defeated if people do not complain about them?
People would be better off watching psychological shows and films with smart characters than browse Lichess forums: The Mentalist, Dexter, Death Note, Kaiji, Liar Game, Tomodachi Game, Code Geass, Bones, Exam, Cube...

What concerns me these time is the use of AI in the forum. I mean, I can understand that it can be a tool for translating from a language to another, or as a search tool, but I can't understand the point of using generative AI in a forum - and I make a reminder that the word 'forum' itself is related to the place where people discussed together in Ancient Rome. The whole point of a forum is discussing and sharing ideas, in a respectful atmosphere. If the AI tool is used to write and develop ideas instead of the effort from the author, the whole atmosphere of this online Agora is erased. I think that there should be a new etiquette regarding the use of AI, as I said more or less, a month ago. Secondly, I'll appreciate an open presence from the moderators in the OT forum. Even just an "ask me anything" about the potential changes, ideas... So just a nice discussion between the members and the moderators.
P. S
Also, I think there should be a words limits in forums posts. Like 10 words minimum. So, with just such a simple thing like that, we'll don't have anymore forum style such as "one word story", "favorite color"... And so it will improve the quality and the creativity

I think the mods do just fine.
I am insulted rather frequently (I could quote recent examples), but I have not "reported" anybody. That would just make work for others, and absent scathing, lying defamation, my skin is a bit thicker than tissue paper.
No, I like the idea of countering bad or silly speech with better speech, not with calls for censorship or for a tribunal and punishment. I guess I would have been a real killjoy during the 1917 Soviet revolution.
On the other hand, I'll join @morphyms1817 , I think, in hoping that people chill out a bit and stop using insult as a tactic in debate. In my undependably humble opinion, debate is about ideas, not personalities. Indeed, making debate insulting or otherwise personal suggests that the debater has a paucity of available good arguments.
As far as "silly" posts go (which tend to be labelled spam), I have an easy solution: I just don't bother to read them. Kids be kids, and they don't get to be kids for that long. Silly posts don't offend me. And the easily read title to a thread is a pretty good clue for the ensuing content.
We don't need more outrage. We need less. I'm actually more worried that so many seem to walk around in a state of frequent (but nevertheless fashionable) outrage. That doesn't spread joy or help the blood pressure.

I'd say it's better to report. I mean, the whole point of reporting is to pave the way for moderators, right? I see reporting as a medium to support them (if done reasonably), rather than the opposite.

"You can silence fifty scholars with a single fact, but you cannot silence a fool with fifty facts."
PS: I'm sure some will listen to reason, but it's best to report those who don't. If one is not punished for their actions, they will never learn. And it's not like they will get banned (except probably in extreme cases like bullying, terrorism), they will simply get muted, which is a mild punishment but effective (for the most part!).

I agree with this. Very well written post as always, sirma Noflaps!
