How to turn off the victory flags that now appear on board post game. This should be a setting!

Ive checked the forum multiple times a day since it was created. Please undo this feature or make it optional. So arrogant to do this. It affects all games even ones i played seven years ago.

Well, back to this where there isn't feedback to lichess.org management (other than here) nor are they obviously participating in the discussion. No "we're adding an off switch". Oh, someone mentioned accuracy. Yeah. um accuracy seems to be how close we come to some algorithm which is very obviously not the same as "how well did you play". You can play well, many have I'm sure, without having a high accuracy. Played poorly but been accurate? If you have something you've noticed that could be improved, do mention it.

I think the only solution is to put the following in your ad blocker filter

lichess.org##.cg-custom-svgs:has( g > g:is( [cgHash*="1774277005"], [cgHash*="2604891415"], [cgHash*="4143857023"], [cgHash*="2647683087"], [cgHash*="1899402066"], [cgHash*="3423973410"], [cgHash*="407266252"], [cgHash*="2737945961"] ))

That works for me although if Lichess uses it elsewhere I also won't see it. Having said that it's never a good sign when users have to use ad blockers to remove elements from website cause devs won't.

But the victory flags do look good almost they copied Chess.com to have it because it is cool. Also it doesn't make any resolution issues so it should be fine and it is not a big problem.

adityacheedella. No, they do NOT look good. Too BRIGHT. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN. TOO BRIGHT!. Unnecessary; this is a duplication of an existing function. If they did in fact copy this from some other chess site. Did they have permission to do that first? Is this copyrightable? When "They" find out what will they think? Doesn't make any resolution issues??? WTH does that mean? How about explaining that. Not a big problem, Hey something we can agree on it's not as big a problem as let's say having nothing to eat for an extended period of time. Things like that are BIG problems. Sometimes little(r) problems should get criticism. So ... 1+time. They're ugly and unneeded (duplication). Should have an off switch (THAT'S NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK!!!).

jhehrun I agree why you are saying to add a on and off switch for that feature. But they thing that you stayed about copyright is not copyright for this thing because ideas don't get copyrighted only the content or the exact things like the exact picture or logo. It's not a big thing to worry about because if they add a new feature to turn off or turn on it, it can make other bugs throughout the system too.

adityacheedella: I'm not a lawyer, I worked in I.T. If you copy something someone else has created I think that has more than a little potential legal trouble that can come from that. It may, or may not, be referred to as copyright. Sometimes I've heard it referred to as intellectual property. If you copy and exact feature let's say I would not be surprised if there were some type of legal complaint that could come from that; a court case. So I can't agree. I would not make a copy like that if I were creating or running a chess website. The board, the pieces, the way they move, the rules. These date back a long time. I'd have to check but I suspect at least 100 years. There are chess like games in other societies on Earth. Look up Shogi. Xiangqi. I'm sure there are more but I've never played them. I have played both of the other games I mentioned. I expect a history for these games going back centuries... Thus no copyright. Authors / creators have been dead for some time.As an example I believe a copyright on songs and written works may extend for the life of the creator plus 70 years. It's been a while; may have changed. This is "off the cuff" I would not make copies of such features without being sure it would not lead to a lawsuit if I were running a site like this.

Ill keep this thread near the top for the next few weeks to make sure this decision is reversed or acted on.

Please don't. Posting meaningless comments in order to keep a thread high in the list is a an unfortunate practice that should be discouraged.

I find this change to be not really in keeping with the rest of the lichess UI, to the point that it's a little annoying. Too much bling for my liking.

There probably is a case for having a more blingy version of the UI, but hopefully not at the expense of the more subdued and calm classic UI that is great for allowing one to focus on the actual chess.
